Going into 2024, i've decided to offer two editing styles- Classic & Grainy.

(and I am so ready for it!)

But Why?

Change is scary, daunting really. Why would I cause more anxiety in my life by trying to change anything? Life is simple and easy when I sit and do the same thing I've already figured out; but I've come to realize I don't want my life to be just easy. I've always had a desire to do more, push myself to become better consistently, but I've always still kept myself inside a certain box. "Photographers need to be consistent with their editing." Is what I've heard thousands of times before especially when first starting my business. "Trends pass quickly," is what I keep telling myself. But when the new year came around, I realized just how unhappy I was with my latest galleries and how almost bored I was with what I was making. I was admiring others work while sitting and telling myself I could never try to be that. Finally, I decided to do something about it.

And so I think & plan

But of course, I also worry

Because change is, again, scary! If I would try a whole new editing as well as photography style, I could easily loose clients that I have grown relationships with. Not everyone would like the change; and, let's be honest, even fewer people in my area want that kind of photography either. I would have to completely rebrand Moments of Bliss as a whole, and the style could very easily fade as fast as it became. All of the blurry, grainy, vintage, and fun things that I love anyone, including myself, could get bored of by next year. And then where would I be? Plus I do quite love a vibrant, clear shot just as much as the filmy shot.

And so I decide

But also... don't

I couldn't come to a decision for one editing style. Why limit myself? Why limit my client? The blurry, grainy style isn't for everyone, and I knew this. I knew even myself wouldn't be happy with a gallery full of only film style photos. For this exact reason I decided to offer two editing styles, to change Moments of Bliss into something I would want when booking a photographer. Offer the best of both worlds! Developing the exact film edit has been difficult at times too because anyone can put grain over a photo and call it 'vintage' which is why I'm going into it with a very open mind. If it develops into something more as I continue to shoot or even something entirely different, I am trying to tell myself that that is okay. Consistency in my normal edits will always be there, but this is the part where I am going to allow myself to continue to grow and experiment. Hopefully one day I will be able to even offer film itself!

And so here I am now

(excitedddd)

But what does this mean for you?

Every client will still get their classic gallery fully edited but will also receive the option of buying a film edit add on. This doesn't just mean a different edit with some grain on top though. You will be receiving a more artistic approach- heavy cropped images, details, blur, shots that don't fall under 'classic' or 'editorial'. My goal is to tell more of a story through the photos, portray emotions and personality through the photos. This is actually my vision for all sessions even without the add on. I hope to make my clients more comfortable and just truly enjoy their session as we shoot. Which is why I've rebranded my families, newborns, and maternity sessions under one topic called 'lifestyle'. It's about documenting and showing the actual dynamic of your family; making the session feel homey and natural which allows you and me the freedom to not feel restricted and stiff. If your toddler is running around, we'll all run around and get that adorable smile we couldn't get when we were just standing.

See what a gallery looks like!
